A dialysis technician is certainly a great career option for you if you are looking for a laboratory work, and patient care.  With such certification, you will get a job in hospitals, outpatient clinics and other medical facilities as well. As there is a serious shortage of health care professionals, government is also helping dialysis and nurses to pay off their loans through different programs.

A dialysis technician undergraduate certificate course takes 6 month to complete. The tuition and fees of $13,500 and you do not have to pay for books and supplies. The course does not offer any on-campus room and board facilities as well. Students may avail some financing options as well to pay for the program. Most of the financing options are grants, scholarships, loans (federal and private) and institutional financing plans.  The above-mentioned tuition and fees is for normal time to completion. The cost will apparently increase if the completion time exceeds.

The dialysis technician undergraduate course is designed to complete in 6 months. However, very less students complete this program in the defined time. In case, you want to join a student loan forgiveness loan to get rid of financial burden while making money. Under certain circumstances, the federal government cancels all or part of an educational loan. This phenomenon is called as Loan Forgiveness.

Any student with education loan can apply for loan forgiveness program, but to qualify the loan, you need to participate and perform volunteer work and military service. During the program, you will get multiple opportunities to utilize your learning as well as you will get to teach and practice medicine in certain types of communities. Additionally, you need to meet the criteria specified by the forgiveness program. Generally, Government provides employments to such students in underserved area to help society, and also pays decent pay for their services.

Following are some volunteer organizations that offer loan forgiveness:

  • AmeriCorps: This organizations serve for 12 months, and get $74,00 or more as stipend, plus $4725 to be used for your loan.
  • Peace Corps: Volunteers may apply for deferment of Stafford, Perkins, and Consolidation loan and partial cancellation of Perkins. Volunteers can bring a real difference in the lives of real people with two years of service in over 70 developing countries.

Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA)

Any volunteer with private and non-profit group that help homeless, hungry, poor or illiterate communities. You need to provide 1700 hours of service, and will receive $4725 as wage.

In an addition to above-mentioned volunteer service, students can also voluntarily participate in military, teaching, legal and medical sectors. The Federal Student Loan Repayment Program allows federal agencies to create loan forgiveness programs to help recruit and retain employees.
